Marianne Sierk

Medium Pastel Pencil, Colored Pencil, Charcoal Pencil, and Graphite Pencil on Toned Paper
Size 6 x 8in

Portrait drawing of 98 Rock's favorite afternoon radio personality and comedian Marianne Sierk.

I began this piece using Staedtler graphite pencils and General's white charcoal pencil on 6 x 8in Strathmore toned tan paper. Then I finished the portrait with a soft overlay of Faber-Castell pastel pencils and Prismacolor Verithin colored pencils.

One of the most challenging parts of creating artwork is knowing when to call a piece complete. I really liked the way this portrait looked with very little detail rendered in the clothing. It seemed to keep the focus on the face. So I decided to holster my pencils before I ended up overworking that area.
